Toyota LandCruiser 200 Series Bullbar Guide (2007-2021): Touring and Fleet Options

The Toyota LandCruiser 200 Series (2007-2021) is the default choice for serious Australian touring. A V8 twin-turbo diesel, full-time 4WD, a ladder chassis that can take hell, and an interior comfortable enough for 3,000km days. For outback work, there's arguably nothing better.

But even a 200 needs a proper bullbar. The factory bumper is plastic, and the hazards of outback highway driving — roos, wandering stock, washouts — don't care about badge value. This guide covers ADR-compliant options for the 200 Series, what fits which trim, and what to budget.

200 Series facelifts — match to the right year

The 200 went through three visible updates:

  • 2007-2011: Original face. Rectangular headlights.
  • 2012-2015: First facelift. Wider grille.
  • 2016-2021: Second facelift. New LED headlights, redesigned bumper, active radar cruise fitted standard from GXL up.

Bumper geometry changes between each version. A pre-2012 bar will not fit a 2016+ truck. Check the product listing matches your build year exactly.

ADR compliance and radar on 2016+

2016+ 200s come with Adaptive Cruise Control via a front-grille radar. A bullbar that blocks or misaligns that radar will throw permanent ACC faults. Look for:

  • AS 4876.1-2002 and ADR 69 compliance.
  • Radar-transparent cutout sized for the 200 Series radar housing.
  • Sensor pods for the eight front parking sensors (Sahara and VX trims).

Loop, hoopless, or triple-loop?

Single-loop (hoop) bullbar

The touring standard. Bonnet protection, twin aerial tabs, dual spotlight/light bar provision. Steel bars run 90-120kg, alloy 55-75kg. Suits everything from a GXL tourer to a Sahara family rig.

Hoopless comp bar

Maximum approach angle and recovery access. Popular on hardcore tourers and expedition builds. Less animal-strike protection.

Triple-loop commercial / station bar

Heavy-duty with grille and headlight loops. Common on station-work 200s in the NT, WA, and western QLD.

Winch compatibility

The 200 Series has ample room for a 12,000lb winch in most bars. Confirm mounting pattern (usually 254 x 114mm), control box placement, and that rated recovery points (5000kg+ each) are integrated into the bar structure.

Pricing on a 200 Series bullbar shipped to you

  • Alloy hoop bar: $2,100 - $2,800
  • Steel hoop bar, winch-ready: $2,400 - $3,200
  • Steel comp / hoopless bar: $2,700 - $3,700
  • Commercial triple-loop: $3,000 - $4,100

Professional fitting: $600 - $1,000 in metro areas.

Fitting notes

  • Plan 5-6 hours DIY. Two people minimum — the 200 Series bumper is heavy.
  • Radar transfers to the new bar on 2016+ trucks.
  • Parking sensor pods plug straight into the factory loom.
  • Fog lights and DRLs either relocate or are replaced — check kit contents.
  • Post-fit ADAS calibration on 2016+ is worth $150-$250 to force a scan-tool re-cal.
